C1/C + E Licence

If the vehicle has a MAM between 3.5 tonnes and 7.5 tonnes then a category 'C1' LGV driving licence is needed, however, if the (MAM) is more than 7.5 tonnes then a category 'C' LGV driving licence is needed.

While there are no legal requirement to hold any qualifications in order to charge payment to teach either category C or D in N Ireland TC 4 HGV will only use Qualified and Approved Driving Instructors that are registered and licensed. When choosing an instructor please ask to see their qualifications.
